Commercial Estimator
Chelmsford, United Kingdom | Hybrid
We're looking for a commercially minded and proactive Commercial Estimator to join Catify and support the continued growth of our surveying, geospatial and digital data services.
You'll take ownership of incoming enquiries, develop accurate and commercially sound quotations, and work closely with clients and our Commercial, Operations, Project Delivery, Finance and Business Development teams.
This is a great opportunity for someone who combines technical understanding with commercial thinking and strong client-facing skills, and who wants to develop further within a growing and ambitious business.

- Review client enquiries and technical specifications to understand project scope, requirements and pricing considerations.
- Prepare accurate and commercially appropriate quotations and estimates.
- Engage directly with clients to clarify requirements, assumptions, deliverables and programme expectations.
- Work closely with Commercial, Operations, Project Delivery, Finance and Business Development to validate scope, resources, risks and pricing.
- Maintain accurate enquiry, quotation and pipeline information.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Support commercial project handovers, ensuring delivery teams have a clear understanding of scope, pricing, programme, risks and client commitments.
- Maintain a good understanding of Catify's services, pricing and relevant supply-chain costs.
- Provide commercial input during project delivery where required.
- Contribute to improving our estimating, quotation and handover processes.

- Practical knowledge of surveying, geospatial, utilities, infrastructure or a closely related technical field.
- Experience preparing quotations, estimates or technical service proposals.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with good commercial awareness.
- Ability to understand project scope, identify missing information and recognise commercial or delivery risks.
- Confidence communicating with clients and explaining technical and commercial information clearly.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership and follow enquiries through.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across technical, operational and commercial teams.

- A relevant qualification in surveying, geomatics, geospatial services, utilities, construction, infrastructure or commercial estimating.
- Understanding of pricing strategies, cost estimation, margin management and commercial risk.
- Experience pricing utility surveys, topographical surveys, reality capture or geospatial and digital data services.
- Experience working with clients across power, water, telecoms, aviation or major infrastructure.
- Knowledge of relevant contracting approaches, including NEC contracts.

You'll work alongside our commercial and delivery teams on live enquiries while building your knowledge of Catify's services, pricing approach and processes.
As your knowledge grows, you'll take increasing ownership of quotations and client conversations, helping us deliver accurate, commercially sound proposals and ensure a smooth handover into project delivery.

Working environment: Hybrid
The role combines remote working with attendance at our Chelmsford office. Client meetings and site visits across the UK may occasionally be required.
